Youth

With the primary goal of education in mind, the WWII Camp Wall realizes the importance of reaching our youth.

We are proud to be reaching young minds.

WWII Camp Wall Youth Group

The WWII Camp Wall Youth Group is a diverse and passionate coalition of high school student leaders from Los Angeles and Tokyo. Together, they work to preserve Japanese American history and amplify untold stories. United by a shared commitment to justice, remembrance, and education, these youth are making history — by honoring it. They would love to outreach to other areas. If you are interested in forming a group at your school, please do reach out to us.

The WWII Camp Wall Youth Group was founded by Yuta Takahashi (class of 2026) and Sophia Muratsuchi (class of 2028), photographed above.

Nisei Week

Mia Takatsuka, a 2026 Nisei Week Princess chose the WWII Camp Wall as her platform to support.

Mia has been visiting elementary schools in the Los Angeles area and teaching children about the experiences of Japanese in the United States during WWII, and explaining the significance of the WWII Japanese American Incarceration Monument.

Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) and Girl Scouts of America

The WWII Camp Wall has worked closely with Scout Troops #719 and #310G in Torrance. Members of the troops march with the WWIICW in the annual Nisei Week Parade, and proudly carry our banners and our WWII Camp Honor Roll Banners.

Inspiring Youth

In 2024, Aston Nagahashi of Scout Troop #719 was inspired by the WWII Camp Wall after learning of all that it stands for, and after marching with us in the Nisei
Week Parade. He decided to do something for the WWIICW as his Eagle Project.

The WWII Camp Wall is now the proud owner of a 10 foot tall guard tower, patterned after a Tule Lake guard tower. It is fully collapsible for storage, and is on wheels. It debuted with us in the 2025 Nisei Week Parade.
